Muziboo gives platform for amateur musicians
Muziboo gives platform for amateur musicians. It is a neatly designed site. It is a music site with a touch of social network site. It pretty much looks like myspace, where bands can create a profile and upload pictures and songs. Its is being led by Prateek and Nithya. Artists can upload their songs and in return they will get wider audience. The site has three main sections. Uploading Music, Discover and Learn Music and Discuss Music.
This site was released 6 months ago. Muziboo recently released a radio widget. Currently they have approximately 150 songs which they play in radio under three categories English, Hindi and Instrumental. This site is targeting the niche of providing a platform for amateur artists who otherwise will find difficult to display their skills. The following is an flow diagram for Muziboo.

Amateur musicians can upload their original compositions to muziboo as mp3. They can tag their compositions which will help users to identify the song. User can listen to the songs and rate them on the site. Muziboo provides a widget for the song as well as for Radio. Artists can form bands and users can join their band pretty much like a social network site. They have lounge (discussion forums). Users can upload their individual profile. Users can also form groups and discuss on various subjects (again like a orkut group).
The site runs google advertisements on its pages. Currently Muziboo do not share revenue with artists. Muziboo allows users to play multiple songs at a time. From a usability stand point when user clicks on a song, the earlier song should stop automatically before playing the new song. Here is a song (Mere Log) from Zameer.
A couple of suggestions- Muziboo can think of a revenue sharing model with the artists, which will attract more artists. Audio advertisements can be inserted before playing a song and also between two songs in Radio. If they take care of the tagging of songs right from the beginning, they can easily transform into a personalized radio in future. Muziboo may consider a standard set of tags each time the user upload a song. If users are allowed to create tags, there could be redundant tags which will affect the quality of search.

Thank you leaving us a comment. I use a personalized radio service Pandora. Both professionals and amateurs can upload their content. And I believe they have a revenue/royalty sharing model with artist. Pandora classifies songs based on certain music qualities and one can have a radio station based on that. They do not run ads in between songs. They have a flashy website which displays ads while songs are being played.

Hi Saad
Thanks for the great review. Really appreciate your honest feedback.
In my opinion it will be great to let artists sell their music (originals) on the website. This is the only thing that can bring real revenue for them.
I will take care of some of the usability tips that you have mentioned towards the end
